Andrea Pirlo has formally reported his retirement from proficient football following a trophy-loaded 22-year profession.
The previous Italy universal, 38, played his last match on Sunday as New York City FC were thumped out of the MLS Cup play-offs by the Columbus Crew.
City expected to upset a 4-1 shortfall from the main leg however, in spite of a 2-0 triumph at Yankee Stadium, their post-season contribution arrived at an end, and with it Pirlo's profession.
The previous AC Milan and Juventus playmaker uncovered not long ago he was intending to resign toward the finish of the MLS season, and on Monday he distributed a goodbye message through his Twitter account.
It read: "Last match in MLS. As my chance in NYFC reaches an end I might want to state a couple of words. I need to thank everyone for the benevolence and bolster they have demonstrated me in this inconceivable city.
"Much obliged to you to the astonishing supporters, thank you to the training staff, and everyone that works in the background, thank you to my partners.
