Newcastle was linked to the "Bin Zayed Group" after Mike Ashley, the owner of the Maccabees, decided to sell the club.
According to English press reports, Al Nahyan believes that Mourinho will be the best successor to coach Rafael Benitez, as part of the new project of the club, and his desire to compete with adults.
Mourinho has been away from the training world since he was ousted from Manchester United last season after the team's results deteriorated dramatically.
