The club explained that it will not provide any additional clarification at the moment until Chelsea resolve his negotiations with the former player.
Chelsea are expected to announce Lampard's appointment as London coach in the next few hours to replace Mauricio Sari.
Sari left Stamford Bridge this summer to take charge of Juventus, replacing Massimiliano Alegre.
Lampard played for Chelsea for 13 years before moving to Manchester City, where he played for a season.
