The Bavarian club began its official negotiations with City in order to win the 23-year-old German international signing this summer to replace the departure of duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

"Leroy is a great player and he has proved that in England, as well as with the national team, and we want to include him," he said in an interview with ZDF.



Kovac acknowledged the difficulty of hiring a Sani-sized player, though, "but I'm sure we can get it."

Bayern officials conceded that they were waiting for Sani's decision after his summer break to see whether the player could be officially approached.

Sané appeared to have opened the door to the Bavarian club, which has been confirmed by a formal offer in recent days to return the former Schalke player to the Bundesliga.

Pep Guardiola, the Coach of the City, recently revealed that Sané had received an offer to renew his contract with the Citizens more than a year ago, but the player has not yet agreed.
