Tottenham announced that he had signed a contract with Portuguese midfielder Gedson Fernandes on loan for 18 months, with a clause permitting him to be switch permanent reportedly.
The 21-year-old was heavily associated with the move to West Ham at the beginning of the month, but the young man refused West Ham to join Tottenham.
Fernandes is Mourinho's first contract as Tottenham coach and is now looking to sign a striker to cover Harry Kane's absence.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham's contract with Benfica contains a purchase option clause for 42.76 million pounds (50 million euros).
