56' MADRID HAVE THE LEAD! It's Mendy that puts the cross into the middle of the box and Benzema gets ahead of Felipe at the far post to make contact with it and sidefoot it past Oblak and into the back of the net. 1-0 Madrid!

45' + 2' HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-0 ATLETICO MADRID.

45' + 1' GOOD SAVE! Madrid string together a run of passes and Casemiro picks out Modric outside the box. He decides to go for goal himself and curls his effort towards the top far corner, but Oblak gets across to push it away.

44' Madrid are still struggling to break down Atletico in midfield and find a way into the final third. They've had a lot of possession in and around the halfway line, but the away side are making it hard for them to get further forward.

42' CLOSE! Llorente plays a throughball forward to Correa and he has so much space to run into. He carries it forward into the box and takes the shot just as Varane gets back on the cover, but his effort just sneaks past the outside of the far post. The flag has gone up so it wouldn't have counted anyway.

40' Morata has gone to ground after being fouled again and Simeone is furious on the sidelines. He's signalling to the referee how many times his forward has been brought down and he's been booked because of it.

38' Benzema has gone to ground in the box now and there are some shouts from the fans for a penalty. It looked like he just tripped over Felipe as he turned to get on the end of Modric's cross and nothing is given.

36' It's a good free-kick into the box by Correa on the right as he whips his cross into the six-yard box, but it's Ramos that gets there first to head it out for a corner. The delivery from that isn't so good and the home side come away with it.

34' A loud cheer goes up in the stadium as Isco uses a lovely bit of skill to turn past Llorente on the left wing. He loses control of the ball after that though with a heavy touch and ends up bringing Thomas down in an attempt to win it back.

32' Saul squares the ball back to the edge of the box to try and pick out Morata but Casemiro gets there to intercept it. Morata then goes to ground after a collision with the Brazilian and immediately looks to the referee, but he waves away the claims. 

30' Madrid are seeing a lot of the ball at the moment, but it's all in their own half of the field. They try to play in Isco on the left but Atletico are quick to block his run and force him to go backwards again.

28' Carvajal is down on the edge of Atletico's box after he was accidentally caught by Felipe as he cleared the ball. The medical team have come across to give him some treatment and it looks like he'll be okay to carry on.

26' Varane has made a driving run forward and Kross lays the ball off to him. He's a long way out from goal, but he decides to try his luck. The defender scuffs at the shot though and it's an easy one for Thomas to deal with.

24' OFF THE POST! Vitolo just about manages to hold onto the ball under pressure from Ramos and touches it onto Correa. He goes for goal despite the tight angle on the right and his shot bounces off the outside of the post.

23' Madrid are getting into some good positions high upfield, but haven't been able to really test Atletico's defenders in the last few minutes. Their final pass into the box is letting them down and the away side are winning possession back.

21' Madrid are unbeaten in their last seven derbies against Atletico in LaLiga (W2 D5), drawing five of the last six, with four of those under Zidane.

19' CLOSE! Madrid just can't clear their lines as Atletico start to pile the pressure on the home side now. Correa's cross is headed away by Varane, but only to Saul on the edge of the box. He drills his shot towards goal but sends it just wide of the near post.

17' Vrsaljko's cross into the box is deflected and it falls to the feet of Vitolo. He takes the shot first time, curling it low towards the target and it takes a slight deflection off Ramos, but Courtois gets down quickly to save it.

15' Carvajal flicks the ball onto Modric who makes a driving run down the right. He's got two Atletico defenders staying tight to him though and, in the end, he's crowded off it before he can put a cross into the box.

13' Benzema is deep in his own half when he plays a loose pass back to Carvajal and Morata intercepts it. He turns with the ball before squaring it across the six-yard box, but Ramos makes an important block to stop Vitolo reaching it.

11' GOOD CHANCE! Kroos plays a one-two with Carvajal from the corner to get into a better position and then squares the ball to Ramos on the penalty spot when he gets the return. The captain scuffs at the shot though and fires it wide of the far post.

9' Correa plays a throughball into the box for Morata to run onto, but Varane helps see it back to Courtois. Morata is claiming he was caught in the face by the defender, but there's nothing in it and the referee waves for play to carry on.

7' CLOSE! Kroos does really well to keep the ball in at the byline on the left and chips a cross back into the box. Ramos, who is still up from the corner, meets it at the near post but lifts his effort just over the bar.

6' Kroos swings a corner into the middle of the box to try and pick out Benzema, but Felipe rises highest to head it away. His clearance only goes as far as Modric on the edge of the box, but his drilled shot it blocked.

4' Morata is wide on the left and he tries to switch play but has his pass blocked by Valverde. They both chase down the loose ball but Valverde hits his clearance against the striker to get a goal-kick.

2' Madrid have seen more of the ball in the opening minutes of the game, but so far it's all been in their own half and they haven't been able to break forward into the final third yet.
