Chelsea vs Southampton Live Score

90' + 5' FULL-TIME: CHELSEA 3-3 SOUTHAMPTON
90' + 4' Southampton give Chelsea a scare at the death. Ings nearly gets a shot away in the box and Zouma hurriedly clears for a corner. Southampton come again and Walcott fizzes a shot wide to the left. That's it!
T. Walcott
Assist
Southampton
90' + 2' Walcott gets an assist on his second debut for Southampton! The visitors are delighted. In truth it's no less than they deserve. They've been more than a match for Chelsea overall.
J. Vestergaard
Goal
Southampton
90' + 2' GOAL! CHELSEA 3-3 SOUTHAMPTON! Southampton equalise with seconds left! James gives away an unncessary free-kick on James. Ward-Prowse sends it in and it comes out to Walcott who scuffs a shot straight into the ground. Vestergaard gets his head onto it and it finds its way into the net!

59' Assist Timo Werner
K. Havertz
Goal
Chelsea
59' GOAL! CHELSEA 3-2 SOUTHAMPTON! Chelsea get the lead again straight away! Pulisic dribbles through the middle and feeds Werner who's making a run down the right. Werner rolls the ball across goal for Havertz who makes no mistake.

C. Adams
Goal
Southampton
57' GOAL! CHELSEA 2-2 SOUTHAMPTON! Southampton have levelled from a two-goal deficit! Romeu knocks the ball forward for Adams to chase and Zouma makes a hash of dealing with it. Kepa trips Adams, who to his credit stays on his feet. Ings can't get his feet together to tap in from close range and Adams lashes high into the net!

49' Kepa claims Ward-Prowse's ball in without much fuss at all. Still, Southampton have started this half with some purpose.
B. Chilwell
Yellow Card
Chelsea
48' Chilwell receives the game's first yellow card for clipping Ward-Prowse's heels from behind. The Southampton captain will take the resulting free-kick.
47' Southampton try to find that equaliser straight away. Bertrand slips Ings in down the left flank and Azpilicueta cannily shepherds the ball out for a Chelsea goal-kick.
45' Chelsea get the second half underway. No changes by either side at half-time.

45' + 2' HALF-TIME: CHELSEA 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON

43' GOAL! CHELSEA 2-1 SOUTHAMPTON! Chelsea play themselves into trouble and get punished. Adams slips a quick pass through Chelsea's centre-backs to find Ings who takes the ball past Kepa and finishes coolly.

41' Southampton make incremental progress down their left side. Chelsea soon force them back and Walker-Peters' slip almost sets the hosts away on the counter. Walcott is there quickly to help out.
39' Havertz dances into the box with a nice turn. Werner arrives on the scene to latch onto the loose ball, lashing a shot wide of the right-hand post. The striker looks hungry for more goals.
38' Chelsea have been very easy on the eye so far. It's easy to see what Lampard is trying to build here, even though they need to develop more steel if they're going to challenge for the league title again.
36' Southampton take the opportunity to slow the game down for a bit, knocking the ball amongst themselves. McCarthy eventually hands Chelsea a cheap throw-in with a wayward pass out from the back.
34' Walker-Peters looks for Ings but Ings is offside. Kante chips a pass forward for Werner but the German's beaten to the header. The pressure on Southampton eases slightly as Redmond gets clattered by three Chelsea players just outside his box. The visitors are clinging on for the time being.
32' More on Werner, who's become the fifth different German to score in the Premier League for Chelsea. Only Robert Lewandowski, Ciro Immobile and Cristiano Ronaldo have scored more goals across Europe's top five leagues since the start of last season than his 30. Now he's started scoring, you wouldn't bet against him bagging loads more.
30' Chelsea are dominant at the moment. The hosts win a corner down their right and Zouma powers a header straight at McCarthy. The Southampton keeper tips it aside for another corner. McCarthy claims at the second attempt.
T. Werner
Goal
Chelsea
28' GOAL! CHELSEA 2-0 SOUTHAMPTON! Werner's unshackled now. Jorginho sends a fantastic bouncing ball over the top for Werner to chase. Werner beats Vestergaard to it and cheekily dinks it over the onrushing McCarthy, allowing him to head into an empty net. That was a lovely goal.

26' Pulisic skips into the box and looks to cut the ball back for Werner. Walker-Peters gets in front of the striker though and manages to clear. Chelsea have missed the American winger so far this season.
24' Redmond cuts inside from the left and has a pop but his shot is blocked. Havertz wins a foul off Vestergaard and Ward-Prowse gets the same treatment from Azpilicueta seconds later.
22' Ward-Prowse's free-kick doesn't worry Chelsea very much as the hosts clear. Southampton are showing flashes of quality but not enough to be a sustained threat to Chelsea yet.
21' Christensen's shot from the right of Southampton's box is blocked. Up the other end, Walker-Peters wins a free-kick as he's fouled by Chilwell. There's an interesting tussle going on between the two full-backs.
20' That first Premier League goal for Werner, by the way, was on his 13th attempt in the competition. If at first you don't succeed, keep playing up front for Chelsea. You're sure to succeed eventually.
19' There's a zip about Chelsea here. Pulisic plays the ball off Vestergaard to give the hosts the first corner of the game. Southampton see it off easily enough.
17' Chelsea go looking for a second goal. Chilwell, again Chelsea's furthest player forward on the left, gets on the end of a header but it's too tame to test McCarthy.
B. Chilwell
Assist
Chelsea
15' Chilwell claims the assist for that goal, even though it was all down to Werner's invention. Both players have made a strong start to the game.

15' GOAL! 1-0 CHELSEA! Werner gets his first Premier League goal! It's a fine finish too. Chilwell passes to the striker, who turns Bednarek with a cute flick and dashes in behind. Werner skips across the penalty area with Southampton defenders bearing down on him before fizzing a low shot back past McCarthy.

13' Mount spots Chilwell on the run down the left and dinks a pass to him. Chilwell's first-time ball in is cleared. The left-back tries again and Werner beats McCarthy with the header but he's offside.
12' Walker-Peters plays a nice one-two with Walcott to keep things moving for Southampton. Bertrand's cross in causes confusion in the Chelsea area and Zouma saves Christensen's blushes by booting the ball out of play.
10' Walker-Peters gallops forward from right-back and Kante brings him down to give Southampton a free-kick. The visitors aren't afraid of getting up the pitch, even if it leaves them open at the back as their recent hammering by Tottenham showed.

8' Chance for Southampton! Adams sniffs a chance in the box and takes the shot early. Kepa is equal to it and Chelsea scramble clear. It's been a brisk, open start to the game.
7' Werner makes his first appearance in the game. The German bears down on goal from the left and aims for the opposite corner but it flashes just past the far post. The striker's still to get his first league goal for Chelsea but it'll come.
5' Chelsea are looking purposeful in these opening few minutes. Walcott slips Ings through but the England striker's shot is blocked. Chelsea take their turn to attack and Chilwell flings a cross into the box from deep. Pulisic darts onto it across Bertrand but can't keep his header down.
3' Chelsea make a bright start to the game! After both sides hockey in midfield, Pulisic dances through the centre and finds Chilwell in acres of space just outside the box. Chilwell lets rip with a low shot and forces a decent save from McCarthy. Werner tests the goalkeeper again but the German is offside.
1' Both sides take the knee and Southampton get this game started!
